Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum

The Opportunity

We're working with a well-established and friendly accountancy practice in Chester that is looking to add an experienced Bookkeeper to its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has previously worked within an accountancy practice and enjoys building strong relationships with a varied client portfolio. You'll play a key role in supporting businesses with their bookkeeping requirements whilst also taking ownership of CIS administration and submissions.

The Role

As Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for:

• Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors
• Processing sales and purchase invoices
• Bank reconciliations
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Maintaining accurate financial records
• Managing Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) administration and submissions
• Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
• Liaising directly with clients to provide bookkeeping support and advice
• Supporting accountants with the preparation of management accounts where required
• Working with cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Previous bookkeeping experience gained within an accountancy practice
• Experience processing and submitting CIS returns
• Good understanding of VAT and bookkeeping principles
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
• The ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
