Finance Assistant

Location: Norwich
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience

A growing international organisation is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join its established finance team based in Norwich. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to broaden their accounting experience within a fast-paced, multi-currency environment while supporting a wide range of transactional and month-end finance activities.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes, and ensuring finance operations run efficiently across multiple business entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchase ledger activities, including supplier reconciliations and query resolution.
• Prepare supplier payment runs, ensuring appropriate authorisation and accurate processing.
• Administer employee expenses and company credit card transactions, ensuring postings are allocated correctly.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, investigating and resolving variances.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal preparation and management accounts support.
• Coordinate intercompany reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Maintain daily cashbook transactions and reconcile entries to the general ledger.
• Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing documentation and schedules.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Provide support with budgeting activities, finance projects and occasional sales ledger cover.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

You will ideally have:

• A minimum of two years' experience in a finance position, ideally with purchase ledger experience.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Experience working with foreign currency transactions.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships across the business.
• A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using ERP or integrated finance systems.
• Exposure to manufacturing or similar operational environments.
• Experience using expense management systems.
• Studying towards AAT or another recognised accounting qualification.
