Finance & Operations Director

An independent grant-making charity working to enable communities around Heathrow Airport to thrive. We support local organisations to bring people together, improve the environment and create opportunities for young people. Our ambition is to make our funding as useful and accessible as possible, guided by community needs and backed by strong partnerships and careful stewardship of our resources.

We are seeking an interim Finance & Operations Director to oversee our organisation’s ongoing operations and procedures during a period of transition. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a proven track record in operational management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement.

Day-to-day of the role:

Working with the Chair, Vice Chair and Board of Trustees. This will include:

• Maintaining communication with the Board of Trustees, and with our Heathrow Airport Limited partners to provide regular updates, and where required, recommendations.
• Providing oversight with key partners to monitor the progress of projects and initiatives.
• If required, engaging with community teams to support events and enhance community engagement efforts.
• Overseeing financial operations with the Treasurer, including the management of bank accounts and the coordination of funding initiatives.
• Supporting the facilitation of the grant application process, ensuring thorough and fair evaluation in collaboration with grant Panels.
• Supporting and maintaining the successful operation of all Panels and Committees e.g. Risk Committee.
• Managing all general administrative requests and queries.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Significant experience in an operational leadership role, preferably within a dynamic organisational setting.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in managing budgets and financial planning.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and performance metrics.
• A collaborative approach to leadership, teamwork and mutual support across the charity.
