Interim Finance & Operations Director 6-month temporary position

6-Month Interim Assignment

We are recruiting on behalf of an established charitable organisation seeking an experienced Interim Finance & Operations Director to provide senior-level operational and financial leadership during a period of transition.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished leader who can quickly understand an organisation, provide stability and oversight, and work collaboratively with senior stakeholders, Trustees and key partners.

The Role

Working closely with the Chair, Vice Chair and Board of Trustees, you will help ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the organisation throughout the interim period.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining strong communication with the Board of Trustees and key external partners, providing regular updates and recommendations where appropriate.
• Providing oversight of key partnerships, projects and initiatives, ensuring progress is effectively monitored.
• Supporting community engagement activities and events where required.
• Overseeing financial operations alongside the Treasurer, including bank accounts, budgets, financial planning and funding initiatives.
• Supporting the grant application process and helping to ensure applications are assessed thoroughly and fairly.
• Supporting the effective running of organisational Panels and Committees, including Risk.
• Providing effective operational oversight and dealing with general administrative requirements and queries.
• Ensuring the organisation continues to operate effectively and efficiently throughout the period of transition.

About You

We are looking for someone who can confidently step into a senior interim position and make an immediate impact.

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience within a senior operational leadership role.
• Strong financial acumen, including experience of budget management and financial planning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• The confidence to work effectively with Trustees, senior stakeholders and external partners.
• Strong strategic-thinking and decision-making skills.
• An analytical approach with the ability to use data and performance measures effectively.
• A collaborative, supportive leadership style.
• Experience within the charity/not-for-profit sector would be advantageous.
