Academics, an established Education Agency, are acting as an agency and are recruiting a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for temporary, ongoing supply work across mainstream primary and secondary schools in Sheffield.

This 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is ideal for someone with previous experience supporting pupils with additional needs who can provide consistent, individualised support. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to help a pupil access learning and thrive within a mainstream Sheffield school.

Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply

Pay: £92.56 - £100 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)

Start Date: ASAP or a start date that works for you

About the Role

Working as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant in Sheffield, you will provide dedicated support to an individual pupil with Special Educational Needs within a mainstream classroom.

The 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant will help the pupil access lessons, develop independence and overcome barriers to learning. The exact needs will vary between schools and may include Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties or other additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with SEN
• Support access to classroom learning and activities
• Adapt activities and resources where appropriate
• Encourage independence and positive behaviour
• Support communication and social development
• Monitor and communicate pupil progress with teaching staff
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
• Experience working within a mainstream school is desirable
• Confident providing consistent 1:1 support
• Patient, caring and adaptable approach
• Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one
