Academics, an established Education Agency, are acting as an agency and are recruiting Primary Classroom Support Assistants for temporary, ongoing supply work across primary schools in Sheffield.

This Primary Classroom Support Assistant opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys helping children learn, supporting teachers and creating a positive classroom environment. You may provide whole-class support, work with small groups or offer individual help to pupils who need additional support, including those with SEN.

Position: Primary Classroom Support Assistant

Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply

Pay: £92.56 - £95 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)

About the Role

As a Primary Classroom Support Assistant in Sheffield, you will work alongside class teachers to help pupils engage with lessons and make progress across the primary curriculum.

The role may involve supporting literacy and numeracy, preparing classroom resources and helping individual pupils or small groups complete learning activities. Some Sheffield schools may also require support for children with additional needs within a mainstream classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom learning and activities
• Provide whole-class, small-group and individual support
• Help pupils with reading, writing and numeracy
• Encourage positive behaviour and independent learning
• Support pupils who need additional help with their work
• Prepare and organise classroom resources
• Follow school safeguarding and behaviour procedures

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience working with children is desirable
• School-based experience is an advantage
• Caring, patient and adaptable approach
• Confident supporting pupils with different abilities and needs
• Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one
