Senior Pricing Executive Right Now Group are recruiting an experienced Senior Pricing Executive to join our client's established freight forwarding operation.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the pricing function while leading and supporting a small team of two Pricing Executives. You will coordinate workloads, oversee pricing activity, secure competitive supplier rates and ensure quotations are commercially competitive and profitable.
Working closely with Sales, Operations, airlines, shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents, you will support existing customers, new business opportunities and tenders. This fast-paced, commercially focused role requires strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills, alongside excellent attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities - Oversee the day-to-day running of the pricing function, ensuring enquiries are managed efficiently and quotations meet deadlines.
- Lead, support and develop a team of two Pricing Executives, allocating workloads and providing coaching and guidance.
- Monitor team performance against targets and KPIs, review reports and identify areas for improvement.
- Review quotations for accuracy, commercial suitability and presentation.
- Act as the escalation point for complex, high-value or commercially sensitive enquiries.
- Manage pricing across Air, Sea, Road and Courier/Express services.
- Source and negotiate competitive buying rates with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, overseas agents and other suppliers.
- Prepare accurate quotations, considering freight, surcharges, handling, customs, collection, delivery and other associated costs.
- Calculate selling rates that balance competitive pricing with healthy profit margins.
- Monitor market conditions, supplier costs and existing customer pricing to identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Support Sales with new business, tenders and customer opportunities, including complex or specialist shipments.
- Work with Operations to ensure proposed services, routings and costs are achievable.
- Maintain accurate supplier rates, rate sheets and pricing records, ensuring information is current and accessible.
- Investigate pricing discrepancies and assist with supplier invoice queries relating to quoted costs.
- Identify ways to improve pricing processes, efficiency and departmental performance.
- Build strong working relationships across suppliers, agents, Sales and Operations, maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service.
Skills & Experience Required - Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, freight pricing or a similar commercial role.
- Strong understanding of international freight forwarding and different transport modes.
- Experience supervising, mentoring or managing team members.
- Multi-modal pricing experience would be highly advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of profit margins and profitability.
- Confident negotiation and communication skills, particularly when dealing with suppliers and service providers.
- Experience with freight forwarding or pricing systems; Boxtop would be advantageous.
- Existing relationships with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers or overseas freight agents would be beneficial.
Salary & Working Hours - Working pattern: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 09:00-17:30
- Location: Egham (hybrid options)
