Financial Controller

StormX Recruitment is supporting a growing business in Stevenage with the appointment of an experienced Financial Controller.

Reporting to the Group CFO, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, ensuring strong financial control while providing commercial insight to support business performance and decision-making.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the month-end close and delivering accurate monthly management accounts and reporting.
• Preparing budgets, forecasts and financial analysis.
• Providing commercial insight and constructive challenge to senior stakeholders.
• Maintaining robust financial controls, reconciliations and processes.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and cost control.
• Supporting business projects and strategic initiatives.
• Working closely with Group Finance to ensure consistent reporting and controls.
• Providing financial support and guidance across the wider business.

About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant with strong commercial experience and excellent analytical skills.

You will ideally have:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant or in a similar senior finance role.
• Strong month-end, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work at both a strategic and hands-on level.
• A proactive approach with strong attention to detail.

Motor industry experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other commercially focused sectors will also be considered.
