Your new company
A growing SME is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and support the leadership team with strategic decision-making. This is a broad, hands-on role that will oversee all aspects of finance, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and meaningful business insight to support continued growth.

Your new role

• Prepare monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.
• Own budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes.
• Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll and credit control functions.
• Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and financial records.
• Deliver meaningful financial analysis and KPI reporting to drive business performance.
• Manage year-end accounts preparation and act as the key contact for external accountants and auditors.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, corporation tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Monitor working capital, profitability and cash generation across the business.
• Develop and improve financial controls, processes and reporting systems.
• Support commercial decision-making through business partnering with operational stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and develop members of the finance team.
• Assist with strategic projects, growth initiatives, acquisitions and system improvements as required.

What you'll need to succeed

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or qualified by experience with significant relevant experience).
• Previous experience in manufacturing is beneficial.
• Strong management accounting, financial reporting and cash flow management skills.
• Ability to operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on in day-to-day financial activities.
• Experience managing and developing finance staff.
• Strong Excel and financial systems' knowledge.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
