Assistant Accountant | Worcester | Hybrid Working | £32,000 - £36,000 per annum
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a well-established organisation based in Worcester.Reporting directly into the Finance Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in finance who is looking to broaden their experience across month-end, management accounts, cash flow reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
The position offers a good mix of hands-on accounting responsibilities alongside exposure to the wider management accounting process, making it particularly suitable for someone looking to continue developing their career within finance.
Your new role
As Assistant Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and posting journals in line with accounting standards and company procedures
• Supporting the month-end process and ensuring accurate financial information is produced within deadlines
• Assisting with the preparation, review and analysis of monthly management accounts, including P&L reporting, commentary and variance analysis
• Reconciling bank accounts, supplier and customer accounts and other balance sheet/control accounts
• Supporting the production of weekly and monthly cash flow reports
• Assisting with forecasting and the preparation of annual overhead budgets
• Preparing accounts and supporting information through to trial balance
• Investigating discrepancies and working with other departments to resolve queries
• Assisting with audit preparation and providing supporting documentation
• Supporting the maintenance and improvement of internal financial controls
• Providing support and cover across the wider finance team when required
• Getting involved in ad-hoc finance projects and analysis for senior management
• Ensuring financial records remain accurate, up to date and compliant

What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in an accounts, finance or assistant accountant position and is now keen to develop their technical accounting experience further.
Ideally, you will have:

• Good knowledge of accounting principles and month-end processes
• Experience reconciling balance sheet/control accounts
• Experience preparing accounts to trial balance
• Strong Excel and general systems skills
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive approach and willingness to support the wider finance team
• An interest in developing your experience across management accounting, budgeting and forecasting

An accounting qualification such as AAT or IATI would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates who are qualified by experience or currently studying towards an accounting qualification are also encouraged to apply.
