Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Critical Infrastructure / Data Centres 📍 Location: Greater Manchester 💷 Salary: £50-60k, dependent on experience 📌 Position: Permanent Vacancy About the Company An established, award-winning engineering specialist employing over 200 professionals, delivering innovative, energy-efficient critical infrastructure solutions across the UK and internationally. The Opportunity An excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Critical Infrastructure team, taking responsibility for the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems, particularly within Data Centre environments. Key Responsibilities * Design chilled water, high-efficiency cooling and associated mechanical systems. * Lead mechanical design packages across all RIBA stages, from concept through to construction. * Produce technical drawings, schematics, specifications and engineering calculations. * Undertake site surveys, technical assessments and design reviews. * Prepare technical proposals, tender submissions and supporting documentation. * Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams. * Review technical submissions, ensuring compliance, quality and project delivery standards. Experience Required * Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering. * Ideally 5+ years' experience in mechanical engineering design. * Strong understanding of HVAC, cooling systems and mechanical infrastructure. * Experience within Data Centres or critical infrastructure advantageous but not essential. * Excellent technical, communication and problem-solving skills.
