Job overview

The John Radcliffe Hospital performs 800 adult cardiac surgical cases per annum. As well as the usual range of myocardial revascularisation and valve replacement procedures, the case mix comprises complex thoracic aortic surgery, Minimally Invasive mitral valve repair and remodelling, minimally invasive coronary and valve surgery, and off-pump coronary surgery.

The Department is currently looking to recruit a qualified Clinical Perfusionist.

Candidates will also be conversant with the full range of adult cardiac surgery and be familiar with techniques such as intra-aortic balloon pumping, autologous cell salvage, uni- and biventricular assist technology; although support will be given to support familiarization with all clinical systems.

The position is a full time fixed contract based around a 4-day working week, but the department is optimised for work life balance and open to discussing part time or flexible and work patterns. Participation in the on-call rota will be required - this is currently at a 1:6 frequency with some enhancements.

Registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland and accreditation with the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland are essential requirements for this post.
