Role Details

• Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
• Pay: £80-£100 per day
• Start: ASAP, subject to registration and safeguarding checks

Communication and 1:1 Support

• An SEN Teaching Assistant will use visual prompts and simplified instructions to reinforce teacher-planned activities
• The SEN Teaching Assistant may assist individuals with early literacy, numeracy and communication targets
• As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will follow EHCP strategies and encourage independent responses
• An effective SEN Teaching Assistant can help pupils navigate transitions and emotional regulation with calm, agreed techniques
• Share observations with class teachers and SENCOs, while following safeguarding procedures.

What We're Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

• Previous SEND or school experience, or transferable childcare, tutoring, care or youth work experience for this SEN Teaching Assistant role.
• Patience with pupils who communicate or process information differently.
• Reliability, clear teamwork and respect for pupil confidentiality.
• Confidence following individual plans and school safeguarding procedures.
