Position: Kitchen Assistant

Salary: £13.27 per hour

Contract: Temporary (covering long-term sickness absence)

Location: CV5 area, Coventry primary school

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 11:00am to 2:00pm

Company introduction: A welcoming primary school in Coventry is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join its catering team immediately. The school currently has a number of staff supporting the kitchen and has built a strong team bond, so they are looking for a reliable team player who will fit well within the existing team.

Kitchen Assistant duties include:

• Serving hot and cold food to pupils and staff
• Assisting with food preparation
• Loading and unloading the dishwasher
• Cleaning kitchen surfaces and work areas
• Mopping floors and maintaining cleanliness standards
• Following food allergy awareness procedures
• Working alongside other team members and supporting daily kitchen operations

Kitchen Assistant person specification:

• Good team player with a positive attitude
• Able to work in a busy kitchen environment
• Awareness of food hygiene and food safety practices
• Reliable and able to start immediately

Other essential skills and experience needed –

• Enhanced DBS clearance preferred
• Candidates without a current enhanced DBS can be put through the DBS process through Reed
• Food hygiene awareness training or previous food hygiene knowledge preferred or willing to complete a Food Hygiene Course through Reed
• Previous experience in a restaurant, catering environment, or similar setting would be beneficial

The school has a supportive catering team with a strong sense of teamwork. You will always have assistance available and will not be expected to work alone.
