The OpportunityWe are currently recruiting two Call Handlers to join a busy and customer-focused organisation in Nottingham on a temporary contract for approximately three months.

This role is ideal for an experienced customer service professional who enjoys being the first point of contact for customers, managing high volumes of enquiries and providing an efficient and professional service. You will play a key role in ensuring all callers receive a positive experience while helping direct enquiries to the appropriate teams and departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for all telephone enquiries.
• Answer inbound calls promptly, professionally and in line with agreed service standards.
• Triage and direct calls to the appropriate department or member of staff.
• Deliver a positive and informative customer experience in every interaction.
• Assist with managing shared email inboxes and customer enquiries through CRM systems.
• Accurately record and maintain customer and enquiry information.
• Update and maintain internal call directories and contact information.
• Support switchboard operations during peak periods and busy times.
• Attend team meetings, training sessions and departmental briefings both in person and via Microsoft Teams.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, confidentiality requirements and organisational procedures.
• Use initiative to resolve customer queries and escalate issues where appropriate.
• Contribute to a culture of customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
• Complete all mandatory training requirements and maintain accurate training records.

About You
The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience within a customer service, contact centre, switchboard, reception or enquiry handling environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional and confident telephone manner.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Good attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
• Experience working with CRM systems would be advantageous.
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and customer service.
