Primary Class Teacher (KS1 & KS2)

East Grinstead, West Sussex

Long-Term Supply Opportunity

Are you a passionate Primary Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs?

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in the East Grinstead area that supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Located in a beautiful rural setting, the school provides a nurturing and personalised learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning. The school's ethos is built around mutual respect, compassion, kindness and supporting every learner to achieve their full potential.

This is a long-term supply position covering the absence of a teacher who is currently off work. The role offers the opportunity to join a supportive team and make a meaningful impact on the educational and personal development of pupils.

The Role

As a Primary Class Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment where pupils can thrive.
  • Adapt teaching and learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff to maximise pupil engagement and achievement.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies and maintain high expectations for all learners.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching where necessary.
  • Develop literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills across the curriculum.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, intervention planning and wider school initiatives.
  • Support pupils' personal, social and emotional development.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching within a primary setting.
  • Has experience of, or a strong interest in, SEMH, SEND or alternative provision.
  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable.
  • Can build positive relationships with children who may have experienced barriers to education.
  • Is committed to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and communication skills.

What's on Offer?

  • Long-term supply role with an immediate impact on pupils' learning and wellbeing.
  • Small class sizes and a personalised approach to education.
  • Supportive leadership team and experienced support staff.
  • Extensive outdoor learning opportunities within a unique rural setting.
  • The chance to make a lasting difference to the lives of children with SEMH needs.
