Join a Busy and Essential Waste Collection Team

We are currently recruiting for a Refuse Loader on behalf of a local authority in Berkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, being part of a team, and playing a vital role in keeping local communities clean and safe.

As a Refuse Loader, you will assist with the collection of household, recycling, and commercial waste across the borough, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect household and recycling waste from residential and commercial properties.
• Load refuse and recycling materials onto collection vehicles.
• Work alongside drivers and the wider waste operations team.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Provide a courteous and professional service to residents and members of the public.
• Ensure routes are completed efficiently and on schedule.
• Report any issues, hazards, or missed collections to supervisors.

Requirements

• Ability to undertake physically demanding work involving lifting, walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Good awareness of health and safety practices.
• Previous experience in waste collection, labouring, street cleansing, or a similar outdoor role is advantageous but not essential.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
