1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - Chester

Academics are currently working with a supportive primary school in Chester seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide consistent support to a pupil with additional needs.

This isn't simply about classroom support. The successful candidate will become an important part of a child's school experience, helping them access learning, develop confidence and feel included within the wider classroom.

The role

You'll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence and confidence.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Assist with transitions and changes to routine.
• Help the pupil access the wider curriculum.
• Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working on a 1:1 basis - desirable.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to recognise when a child needs additional reassurance or support.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and inclusion.
• A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent - desirable, but relevant experience will also be considered.
