Technical Manager / Technical Lead

£40,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

Office Based | Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 5pm

Our client is a successful international food business and part of a global group with turnover exceeding £1.3 billion. Due to continued growth and ambitious plans over the next five years, they are looking to appoint a Technical Manager or Technical Lead to take ownership of the UK technical function.

This opportunity would suit either an experienced Technical Manager looking for a new challenge or a Technical Lead ready to step into a broader leadership position.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead the technical function across the UK business, managing compliance, supplier quality, customer relationships and technical standards across a diverse product portfolio.

Working within a sourcing and supply model, you'll collaborate closely with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders to ensure products remain compliant with UK legislation, retailer standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the technical function and technical team.
• Manage product compliance, specifications and technical documentation.
• Build strong relationships with customers, retailers and suppliers.
• Oversee supplier approval, product assurance and compliance programmes.
• Support NPD projects and product launches.
• Manage audits and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement across technical systems and processes.
• Act as the technical lead for customer enquiries and technical issues.

About You

We're keen to speak with individuals from a food manufacturing, ingredients, sourcing or food supply background.

You Will Ideally Have

• Strong food industry technical and compliance experience.
• Good knowledge of retailer standards and customer requirements.
• HACCP and food safety expertise.
• Experience managing audits and compliance programmes.
• Knowledge of BRC requirements.
• Experience reviewing specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Previous leadership experience or the desire to step into a management role.
