Enablement Assessment OfficerRole Responsibility

Are you passionate about empowering people with diverse needs to live independently?

Are you passionate about enabling people? Do you want to actively support your community? Are you able to think innovatively whilst working in challenging situations? If so, we have an exciting opportunity, in Thanet, as part of our expansion within Intensive Intervention Service Team, with the expectation to deliver the service countywide across Kent if required.

About the Role:

As an Enablement Assessment Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting adults aged 18+ who have higher-level needs, including mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and autism. Working across Kent, with a particular focus on Thanet and surrounding areas, you will deliver intensive, person-centred enablement interventions within the community.

Your work will centre on promoting independence, preventing escalation to more intensive services, and empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals.

You may also be required to support individuals currently in-patients at main Kent psychiatric hospitals.

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Compassionate and committed to promoting independence.
  • Experienced in supporting individuals with mental health needs, autism, and learning disabilities.
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively with multi-agency teams.
  • Organised, flexible, and proactive with strong assessment skills.
  • Able to travel across Kent and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working at pace within the timescales of the enablement programme.
  • A team player who values innovation, collaboration, and continuous development.

Join Us:

At Kent County Council, we are committed to supporting our team and investing in their development. You will benefit from:

  • The chance to make a real and lasting difference in people's lives.

  • A supportive and inclusive team environment.

  • Regular supervision and access to training opportunities.

  • Career development pathways.
