Job Type: Permanent
I am recruiting for an E&P Design Engineer to join my client, a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy specialising in rail infrastructure design.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team of experienced engineers and designers, delivering a varied portfolio of projects across Network Rail, DLR and light rail networks.
My client works across HV, LV, DC, signalling power, electrical track equipment and associated civil engineering design, with projects ranging from £5,000 to £500,000 in value.
You'll be responsible for delivering practical, high-quality engineering designs, taking ownership of your workload and working collaboratively across disciplines. My client is open to engineers from intermediate through to principal level, provided you have a strong technical design background and enjoy remaining hands-on with engineering delivery.
Essential:
Minimum 3 years' experience in rail E&P design.
Strong technical knowledge in at least one area of rail electrical design, including HV, LV, DC or signalling power.
Previous experience producing and delivering electrical engineering designs within a rail environment.
Good understanding of relevant railway engineering standards and design requirements.
Ability to take ownership of design deliverables and manage your own workload effectively.
A practical understanding of constructability and how designs translate into installation.
Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with clients, colleagues and project stakeholders.
A proactive, collaborative approach with a willingness to work across different areas of E&P design.
Ability to attend the London office at least 2 days per week.
Desirable Experience:
Experience across multiple E&P disciplines, including HV feeder renewals, LV distribution, DC power or signalling power.
Experience designing electrical track equipment, lighting schemes, cable routes or substation switchgear.
Familiarity with MicroStation, electrical design software or similar engineering applications.
Previous experience working on Network Rail, TfL, DLR or light rail projects.
Experience within a multidisciplinary design consultancy or design and build environment.
Previous CRE Design experience or aspirations to progress towards CRE or CEM responsibilities.
Working towards or holding IEng or CEng professional registration.
Experience coordinating electrical designs with civil engineering and temporary works disciplines.
This is an opportunity to join a growing consultancy that offers the technical variety of a larger organisation without the unnecessary layers of management and bureaucracy.
My client places genuine emphasis on trust, autonomy and professional development, giving engineers the freedom to take ownership of their work while providing support from experienced directors.
With a strong pipeline of projects and continued plans for growth, there is plenty of opportunity to broaden your technical experience, develop towards engineering assurance and leadership responsibilities, and contribute to how the business evolves.
Alongside a competitive salary, my client offers hybrid working, genuine flexibility around individual circumstances, 22 days' annual leave plus bank holidays and a company pension.
Whether you're an intermediate engineer looking to accelerate your development or an experienced designer seeking more variety and responsibility, my client is open to shaping the opportunity around the right person.
