Your Role as an SEN Teacher

As an SEN Teacher, you will teach within a specialist setting or provision matched to your experience, coordinating classroom support and reviewing pupils' learning.

• Plan accessible lessons with clear objectives linked to pupils' starting points and relevant EHCP outcomes.
• Use structured routines and appropriate communication approaches to help pupils participate.
• Brief support staff and work with SENCOs, families and other professionals where appropriate.
• Assess small steps of progress and adapt resources, pacing and teaching approaches accordingly.

What We Are Looking For in an SEN Teacher

• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification, with relevant SEND teaching experience.
• An SEN Teacher confident differentiating learning and directing classroom support effectively.
• A considered approach to communication, emotional regulation and safeguarding.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one, alongside satisfactory safeguarding checks.
