We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join our Client in their established and growing Accountancy Practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous practice experience to gain exposure to a varied client portfolio, develop their technical knowledge and progress within a supportive team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Supporting the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
• Preparing VAT returns and ensuring submissions meet deadlines
• Assisting with corporation tax computations and personal tax returns
• Carrying out bookkeeping duties, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients
• Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting queries
• Supporting month-end processes and other accounting duties as required
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with relevant accounting regulations
• Working closely with senior accountants to develop your technical skills and knowledge

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice or a similar finance role
• AAT qualified, part-qualified or studying towards AAT, ACA or ACCA
• Basic knowledge of accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar
• Good Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
• A willingness to learn and develop within a practice environment
• Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
