About the Company

Our client is a UK-based software and data business helping organisations understand how political developments, government decisions and regulatory changes could impact their operations and commercial interests.

Combining AI-powered technology with the expertise of political specialists, the company delivers timely intelligence, in-depth research, briefings and strategic advice, enabling businesses to anticipate change, manage risk and make more informed decisions.

Its subscription-based B2B platform serves a diverse range of organisations, providing political monitoring, specialist analysis and tailored intelligence to help clients stay ahead in an increasingly complex political and regulatory landscape.

Following a period of strong growth, our client is expanding its London sales team and seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive new business and revenue growth for its SaaS platform.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional to combine their B2B technology sales expertise with an interest in politics, public affairs and current affairs.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of the full sales cycle, from identifying and qualifying opportunities through to delivering product demonstrations, negotiating and closing new business.

You will be responsible for developing new client relationships and driving revenue across several key UK industry verticals, including Automotive, Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction, Energy/Oil & Gas, and FMCG.

This is a highly client-facing role, offering the opportunity to engage with senior stakeholders and position an innovative intelligence platform as a valuable business solution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business opportunities, with approximately 70% of leads inbound and 30% self-generated through HubSpot and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial prospect engagement through to negotiation and close.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations, both virtually and face-to-face.
  • Build strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser and understanding each prospect’s commercial challenges.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly revenue targets, maximising new business opportunities and commission potential.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client requirements and the political and regulatory developments affecting their industries.
  • Build and grow a pipeline of opportunities across your designated market sectors.
  • Engage with stakeholders across Public Affairs, Marketing and Communications teams to demonstrate the value of political intelligence.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 3 years’ experience in B2B sales, with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
  • Essential: Demonstrable experience selling SaaS, subscription-based products or business intelligence solutions.
  • Experience selling into one or more of the following sectors: Automotive, Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction, Energy/Oil & Gas, or FMCG.
  • Confidence in conducting phone-based sales, virtual demonstrations and face-to-face client presentations.
  • Strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills and a consultative approach to selling.
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude, with the ambition and drive to succeed in a target-driven environment.
  • An interest in politics, public affairs or current affairs. A relevant degree would be advantageous but is not essential.
