is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Bolton to recruit an ambitious and enthusiastic Head of PE to join the school from January 2027 on a temp-to-perm basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PE teacher or current middle leader looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will lead a successful PE department, drive standards across Key Stages 3 and 4, and promote a culture of participation, achievement and enjoyment in sport. A background or ability to teach Health & Social Care would be highly advantageous.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Lead and manage the PE department across KS3 and KS4.
• Deliver engaging and inspiring PE lessons.
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment and departmental improvement.
• Monitor student progress and raise attainment across the subject area.
• Support extracurricular sport and wider school sporting activities.
• Work collaboratively with senior leaders to drive excellent outcomes for students.
• Contribute to the delivery of Health & Social Care where appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Holds QTS/QTLS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Has experience teaching PE at secondary level.
• Has experience leading a curriculum area or is ready to step into middle leadership.
• Has strong knowledge of GCSE and/or BTEC PE qualifications.
• Can inspire students and promote high participation in sport.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Has experience teaching Health & Social Care or would be willing to support the subject.
