Junior Solicitor / NQ Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer

Landlord & Tenant Litigation

East Sussex | Full-Time | Office-Based | 37.5 hours per week

Ready to build your litigation career in a specialist and growing area of law?

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious junior legal professional to join a busy, specialist Landlord & Tenant Litigation team, where you’ll gain genuine hands-on experience, develop your advocacy and litigation skills, and take on increasing responsibility as your career progresses.

My client is looking for a Junior or Newly Qualified Solicitor, or CILEX Lawyer with litigation practice rights, who is keen to develop a career in contentious property law.

You don’t necessarily need extensive Landlord & Tenant experience. If you have a solid grounding in litigation and the motivation to specialise, training and support can be provided.

You’ll work alongside experienced practitioners on a varied and interesting caseload, acting for private landlords, managing agents and insurance companies on matters ranging from possession proceedings to defended and more complex landlord and tenant disputes.

What makes this opportunity stand out?

You’ll be joining a supportive team where you can develop quickly, learn from experienced lawyers and gradually take greater ownership of your own matters.

With dedicated case handlers and paralegal support, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on developing your technical expertise and building your confidence as a litigator.

What you’ll be doing

Your role will include:

  • Managing your own fee-earning work with appropriate supervision
  • Working on defended and complex landlord and tenant disputes
  • Drafting legal documents, applications, pleadings and correspondence
  • Progressing matters through to conclusion with increasing autonomy
  • Issuing possession claims and preparing possession, accelerated possession and warrant applications
  • Drafting notices seeking possession
  • Preparing instructions for advocates and counsel
  • Liaising directly with clients, solicitors, courts, defendants and managing agents
  • Managing court directions, orders and key deadlines
  • Providing regular updates and delivering a high standard of client care
  • Supporting the wider team on a range of litigation matters

Who are we looking for?

This could be an ideal next step if you’re an NQ or junior lawyer who enjoys litigation and wants to develop a genuine specialism.

You’ll ideally be:

  • A qualified Solicitor at NQ or junior level, or
  • A CILEX Lawyer with litigation practice rights
  • Familiar with litigation processes and the Civil Procedure Rules
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Organised, commercially minded and confident managing deadlines
  • Comfortable dealing professionally with clients and third parties
  • Proactive, adaptable and keen to learn
  • A strong team player with excellent attention to detail

Landlord & Tenant experience would be advantageous, but it isn’t essential for the right person. Training can be provided to someone with good litigation foundations and a genuine interest in developing within this area.

Interested?

If you’re at the early stages of your legal career and looking for a role where you can develop your litigation skills, gain real responsibility and become a specialist in your field, I’d love to hear from you.
