Teaching Assistant - SEN School | Lancaster | Immediate Start

A specialist SEN school in Lancaster is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. The school supports children and young people aged 4-19 with a range of additional needs, and is seeking someone with previous experience working with SEN children who can confidently support pupils across different age groups.

This is a full-time role, working 8:45am - 3:15pm, Monday to Friday, and is expected to continue until at least December 2026, with the potential to be extended beyond this.

To be considered, you must have previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, either within a school environment or a care setting. Flexibility is important, as you may be required to work across different classes and key stages depending on the needs of the school.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs both in and out of the classroom
  • Working closely with teaching staff to help pupils access learning
  • Building positive relationships with children and young people aged 4-19
  • Adapting to different classes, year groups and learning environments as required
  • Promoting a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Experience gained in either a school or care setting
  • Confidence working with a range of ages and needs
  • A proactive, adaptable and positive approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Interviews: First-round interviews will be taking place from 21st October.

If you're interested in this opportunity and have the relevant SEN experience, we'd love to hear from you!
