Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an established and highly regarded accountancy practice in the South Down area.

Due to continued demand, the practice is seeking an experienced Accounts Technician / Bookkeeper to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio and wants to develop their experience within a supportive practice environment.

Your new role
Working as part of the accounts team, you will provide accounting and bookkeeping support across a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Maintaining accurate client bookkeeping records
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Bank and control account reconciliations
• Processing purchase and sales ledger information
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation
• Liaising directly with clients and responding to day-to-day accounting queries
• Supporting the wider practice team as required

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have previous experience working within an accountancy practice, although applications from experienced bookkeepers with strong all-round accounting knowledge will also be considered.
You should have:

• Previous Accounts Technician, Bookkeeper or similar accounting experience
• Strong bookkeeping and accounts preparation skills
• Good working knowledge of accounting software
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage your own workload and deadlines
• An ATI/AAT or equivalent qualification would be advantageous, although relevant practical experience will be equally valued.
