The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Director to lead and develop a high-performing technical solutions business across several sectors including Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Packaging.

This role will be responsible for delivering ambitious sales and gross margin growth through strong leadership, strategic market development and disciplined sales execution. The successful candidate will lead a team across field sales, internal sales and customer service, creating a culture of accountability, customer focus and continuous improvement.

This is a true player-coach position, requiring a hands-on sales leader who can inspire and develop others while remaining actively involved in major customer relationships, strategic opportunities and complex negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver sustainable sales, margin and new business growth.
• Lead, coach and develop sales and customer-facing teams.
• Create a high-performance culture with clear objectives, accountability and measurable outcomes.
• Develop and implement sales strategies aligned to priority markets, sectors and customer segments.
• Drive sales excellence through structured processes, pipeline management and performance reviews.
• Build capability across the team through coaching, field accompaniment and development planning.
• Ensure strong prospecting activity and effective conversion of new business opportunities.
• Support key accounts and strategic customer relationships.
• Lead major commercial negotiations and growth initiatives.
• Use CRM systems, KPIs and commercial data to improve decision-making and sales effectiveness.
• Work collaboratively with customer service, operations and digital channels to enhance customer experience.
• Develop strong supplier partnerships and identify new market opportunities.
• Contribute as a key member of the senior leadership team.

About You

• Experience leader with a technical background selling into OEM's.
• Proven experience leading and developing successful sales teams.
• Strong coaching, mentoring and performance management capability.
• A hands-on, commercially focused leadership style.
• Experience managing sales performance against revenue, margin, pipeline and new business targets.
• The ability to engage credibly with technical stakeholders, procurement teams and senior decision-makers.
• Strong understanding of CRM systems, pipeline management and sales process discipline.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Strategic thinking combined with a practical approach to execution and delivery.
• A growth mindset, ambition and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
