Financial Accountant

Salary: Up to £50,000 + Benefits Location: Birmingham Central (Hybrid) Contract: Permanent

Gleeson Recruitment Group are partnering with a well-established and growing organisation to recruit a Financial Accountant into their finance team.

This opportunity would suit a qualified accountant from either industry or practice who enjoys financial reporting, process improvement, and working within a fast-paced commercial environment.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for supporting the production of accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring statutory compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial statements and support statutory reporting requirements.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain fixed asset records.
• Assist with cashflow forecasting, budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Oversee key transactional finance activities and ensure effective financial controls are maintained.
• Prepare information required for tax and compliance reporting.
• Drive process improvements and enhance reporting efficiencies across the finance function.
• Support wider finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or nearing qualification.
• Previous experience within a financial accounting, reporting or audit environment.
• Strong understanding of statutory accounting and financial reporting principles.
• Experience gained in either practice or industry environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Confident working with finance systems and large volumes of data.
