Senior Accounts Payable Assistant

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Experienced in Accounts Payable and confident managing complex purchase ledgers?

Macildowie is working with an established Coventry-based business that is looking for an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Assistant to join its finance team on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong, hands-on Accounts Payable experience who enjoys working with multiple ledgers, currencies, supplier accounts and reconciliations.

We're looking for someone who is confident managing their own workload, has a great eye for detail and enjoys getting stuck into the day-to-day running of a busy finance function.

The Role

• Managing and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records across multiple ledgers.

• Processing and coding supplier invoices, including multi-currency transactions.

• Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies.

• Preparing and supporting supplier payment runs.

• Handling supplier queries and resolving payment issues.

• Completing bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.

• Ensuring invoices and costs are accurately allocated.

• Supporting VAT processing and ensuring accurate VAT treatment.

• Assisting with month-end processes and wider finance activities.

• Working closely with suppliers and internal departments to resolve queries.

• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within Accounts Payable.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Strong, hands-on Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger experience.

• Experience managing complex or multiple ledgers.

• Confidence handling multi-currency transactions and reconciliations.

• Strong supplier statement reconciliation and payment processing experience.

• Good working knowledge of Excel.

• A sound understanding of VAT.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage your own workload and work independently within a busy finance team.

Desirable:

• Previous experience using Sage 200 would be a real advantage.

• Experience working within a multi-entity or complex finance environment.

• Previous involvement in improving Accounts Payable processes.

• Experience supporting month-end activities.
