The Opportunity
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join an established and successful business at a significant point in its growth. With ambitious plans to expand further across the UK, the business has identified substantial opportunities within markets that are largely untapped. The infrastructure, product knowledge, expertise and support are already firmly in place. What they need now is the right person to build the relationships, open doors and turn that potential into long-term commercial success.
This is not a high-volume, aggressive sales role. The business wins through credibility, patience and strong relationships. Customers take time to develop and trust has to be earned, so the successful person will be someone who understands the value of a consultative, relationship-led approach. The role will be approximately 50% account management and 50% new business development, giving you the best of both worlds: an existing customer portfolio to manage and grow, alongside significant scope to develop entirely new relationships and markets.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll take ownership of your territory, with autonomy to identify where the greatest opportunities lie and develop a strategy for growth.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing and developing an existing portfolio of customers
Building trusted, long-term relationships and identifying opportunities to increase business within existing accounts
Identifying and developing new customers and markets
Prospecting strategically rather than relying on high-volume cold sales
Understanding customer needs and providing a consultative, solutions-led approach
Developing relationships over time and becoming a trusted commercial partner
Identifying the strongest opportunities across a broad and largely untapped marketplace
Monitoring competitor activity and wider market trends
Managing your territory effectively and maintaining accurate CRM information
Working closely with colleagues across the wider business
Feeding market intelligence and customer insight back into the business
Supporting commercial and marketing initiatives
Attending relevant exhibitions, events and customer meetings
Helping shape the future direction and growth of the territoryWho Are We Looking For?
You do not need to come from a particular industry. We're much more interested in how you sell and build relationships than the sector you have previously worked within. You could currently be working as a Key Account Manager, Account Manager, Business Development Manager, Territory Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager or Sales Executive.
You're likely to be someone who:
Has a proven background in B2B sales, account management or business development
Builds strong, credible relationships with customers
Takes a patient, consultative approach to winning new business
Understands that the best commercial relationships aren't always won overnight
Can develop an existing account base while also creating new opportunities
Is comfortable prospecting and opening doors in new markets
Has strong negotiation and communication skills
Can work autonomously and effectively manage a geographical territory
Is commercially curious and enjoys finding opportunities others may not have explored
Is comfortable travelling to meet customers as required
Uses CRM systems effectively to manage activity and opportunitiesAbove all, we're looking for the right person. Someone credible, personable and commercially minded who can earn the respect of customers and build relationships that translate into sustainable, long-term growth.
Why Join?
There are millions of pounds' worth of potential opportunities available across existing and new markets. The business has the expertise, knowledge and support to capitalise on them, but many of these markets have not yet been fully developed. That gives you a rare opportunity to join a business where you won't simply be maintaining someone else's territory. You'll have the freedom to build on an established customer base while creating something of your own.
You'll receive:
£48,500 basic salary, depending on experience
Annual bonus
Company car and fuel card
Home-based working
Laptop and mobile phone
37.5-hour week, Monday to Friday
25 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
Company pension scheme
Significant autonomy over your territory
An established customer base alongside substantial new-business potential
Support, knowledge and expertise from an established wider team
The opportunity to join at an exciting period of growthIf you're a relationship-led sales professional who enjoys developing accounts, opening new markets and having the freedom to shape your own territory, this could be an excellent next step.
