The role sits within the Dreadnought Active Vehicle Control Functional Software Team and involves the development and validation of models of the relevant plant and interfacing systems to enable the specification and V&V of the AVC Application Software Requirements.
The Team are taking a Model Based Design approach to the derivation of the requirements, developing behavioural simulation models of the product to enable stakeholder buy in and acceptance of the design. This specific role relates to the creation of supporting models to test the product against, e.g. interfacing systems, plant, etc.
The models and environment are all within the Matlab and Simulink toolset. Tasks, version control and integration are all managed through the Atlassian toolset (Jira, Git, Bitbucket).
Typical duties include
The identification of requirements for the models to support the design work
The creation of the models
The verification that the models meet the user requirements
Maintenance of the models to ensure continued alignment with the modelled system
Integration of the models into the AVC Vehicle Control Whole Boat Model framework
Support the deployment of models to a real time environment (e.g. rigs)
Support the validation of the models (i.e. proving they are sufficiently representative of the real component or systems
Knowledge:
Domain knowledge of the Principles of Submarine control, hydraulic or mechanical systems is desirable, or equivalent knowledge in adjacent industry (e.g. aerospace or automotive)
Knowledge of the model based design approach, especially modelling of dynamic systems
Understanding of standards such as ARP 4754, DO-178 desirable
Understanding of continuous integration strategies, branch/merge, etc desirableSkills:
Simulink skills essential
Atlassian toolset skills desirable
