Would you like to become a trusted senior figure within a growing independent accountancy practice, rather than a small cog in a large department?

A successful and ambitious firm on the outskirts of Norwich is looking for a qualified Accounts Manager to provide a safe pair of hands as the practice enters its next stage of growth.

Working closely with thepartner, you will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses. The work will be centred around statutory accounts and management accounts, alongside the practical advice that owner-managed businesses value from their accountant.

This is an attractive opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to their clients and wants genuine influence within a smaller firm. As the practice expands, there will be scope to shape processes, support the development of the team and take on broader responsibility.

What will you be doing?

As Qualified Accounts Manager, you will:

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of small and medium-sized business clients.
  • Prepare and review year-end statutory accounts.
  • Produce meaningful management accounts and explain the numbers clearly to clients.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact, providing practical accounting and commercial support.
  • Manage assignments from initial records through to completion, maintaining strong standards and deadlines.
  • Work closely with the owner to improve processes and support the continued growth of the practice.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced colleagues as the team develops.

What will you bring?

The successful candidate is likely to be:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Experienced within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Technically confident across accounts preparation and management accounts.
  • Comfortable managing client relationships and working with limited supervision.
  • Approachable, dependable and commercially aware.
  • Motivated by the opportunity to play an important role in the development of a growing independent firm.

What will you receive?

  • A salary of £45,000–£55,000, depending on experience.
  • Considerable autonomy over your client portfolio and working day.
  • Direct access to the practice owner and involvement in key decisions.
  • The opportunity to become an influential member of the firm as it grows.
  • A varied client-facing position without the layers and internal politics of a larger practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant who wants greater ownership, closer client relationships and the chance to help shape the future of an ambitious independent firm.
