Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 6 / Band 7

£39,959–£49,387 full-time, year-round equivalent, pro rata

Southampton, Winchester and Ringwood | Permanent | Three, four or five days

Community clinical work with home-based administration | January 2027 preferred start

Looking for flexible permanent employment with specialist paediatric work, supported development and time at home for reports and administration?

Recruit by Nature is recruiting an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist for an established specialist practice supporting children and young people aged approximately 2–25. Join a neuro-affirming, child-centred team of OTs, sensory integration practitioners, assistants and technicians, working closely with families and education professionals.

What you can expect:

  • Permanent, salaried employment across three, four or five days, with a minimum of 22.5 hours over three days.
  • Term-time through to year-round arrangements, with a minimum working year of 38 weeks.
  • £39,959–£49,387 full-time, year-round equivalent. Actual salary is pro rata for agreed hours and working year; an individual calculation will be confirmed.
  • Home-based report writing and administration, with flexibility to manage your diary within clinical and service requirements.
  • Structured supervision, including at least weekly support during the initial three-month induction, with ongoing frequency agreed according to need.
  • Monthly CPD meetings, e-learning, joint working and continuing training opportunities, including sensory integration, trauma and attachment.
  • Potential for a suitable Band 6 therapist to develop towards Band 7, subject to competence and agreement.
  • Healthcare cash plan, death-in-service benefit and salary sacrifice arrangements, subject to scheme terms.
  • Quarterly team socials and support from an established clinical and administrative team.

Your role:

  • Assess children and young people using standardised assessments, clinical observation and reasoning.
  • Plan and deliver interventions addressing sensory, motor, functional and self-regulation needs.
  • Review progress and produce clear clinical notes, reports and recommendations.
  • Guide and train parents, carers, teachers and other professionals.
  • Collaborate with schools, healthcare colleagues and local authorities.
  • Contribute to EHCP assessments and reports, with tribunal attendance where required.
  • Advise on appropriate assistive equipment and mentor OT students as required.
  • Manage your caseload, diary, travel and clinical administration effectively.

What you will bring:

  • A BSc in Occupational Therapy, current HCPC registration and RCOT membership. Acceptance of equivalent qualifying degrees can be discussed.
  • Relevant paediatric OT experience and confidence assessing, planning interventions and writing reports independently.
  • Standardised assessment experience and relevant practice with autistic and other neurodivergent children and young people.
  • A valid DBS, subject to the employer’s checking requirements.
  • A driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for work.
  • Confidence working in schools, homes and community settings, with appropriate safeguarding awareness.

Sensory integration training is highly desirable, but not essential. Specialist-school, EHCP, tribunal and student-mentoring experience would also be valuable.

Working pattern and locations:

Cover Southampton, Winchester, Ringwood and surrounding areas, with clinical visits to schools, homes and the clinic, plus some online delivery. Administration can be completed at home.

Clinic attendance in Crondall, Hampshire, is required as needed, with more frequent attendance during the first three to four months for induction and training. Caseload journeys and travel expectations will be discussed individually.
