An opportunity to shape the future of a growing manufacturing business.
What if your next Procurement Manager role offered you the opportunity to do far more than manage suppliers, negotiate contracts and deliver cost savings?
What if you could genuinely influence the direction of a business, develop a talented team and help build a procurement function capable of supporting some seriously exciting growth ambitions?
This is exactly the opportunity we're recruiting for.
We're partnering with an established, ambitious and highly respected manufacturer operating within the rapidly evolving health, and wellness sector.
With an established international customer base, sophisticated manufacturing capabilities and significant investment planned across product innovation and manufacturing, the business is entering an incredibly exciting chapter.
We're looking for an experienced Procurement Manager who can bring fresh ideas, strong commercial judgement and proven leadership experience to a business that genuinely wants to evolve.
This isn't about maintaining the status quo. It's about challenging existing processes, identifying opportunities, developing people and helping shape what comes next.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly into Director level, you'll take ownership of a complex procurement function, managing approximately £12–15 million in spend across raw materials, packaging and indirect categories.
With an international supplier network spanning Europe, Asia and beyond, and a product portfolio involving complex formulations, multiple ingredients and extensive supplier relationships, there is plenty here to get your teeth into.
You'll also lead an established team of three purchasing professionals, providing the coaching, structure and strategic direction to help them develop and succeed.
Importantly, you'll have the autonomy and support to challenge existing ways of working, introduce improvements and build stronger commercial relationships that directly contribute to the business's long-term success.
What You'll Be Doing
- Taking ownership of the procurement strategy across raw materials, packaging and indirect spend, with responsibility for approximately £12–15 million.
- Leading, coaching and developing a team of three purchasing professionals, creating a collaborative, accountable and high-performing function.
- Managing a complex international supplier network, including relationships across Europe and Asia, while strengthening supply chain resilience and supplier performance.
- Identifying and delivering measurable cost savings, improved commercial terms and long-term value through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
- Leading contract reviews, supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing exercises and end-to-end tendering processes, while identifying opportunities for new supplier partnerships.
- Managing international sourcing complexities, including import/export compliance, regulatory requirements and supplier risk management.
- Working closely with Operations, Planning, Finance, Quality and other key stakeholders to support business objectives, new product development and future manufacturing growth.
- Introducing improved procurement processes, reporting, systems and performance measures, helping build a forward-thinking and commercially focused function.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally bring:
- At least five years' experience across procurement, purchasing or supply chain management, including proven people leadership and team development.
- A strong manufacturing background, ideally within nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, food, drink or similarly complex manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing significant procurement budgets, ideally £12–15 million or above, with a proven record of delivering measurable cost savings.
- Strong experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management and complex tendering processes.
- Experience managing international supply chains, ideally including European and Asian suppliers, with an understanding of supplier risk, regulatory compliance and complex raw material procurement.
- The ability to develop, motivate and support teams while building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders across different departments.
- A practical, adaptable approach with the confidence to challenge existing processes, drive meaningful change and succeed within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong commercial awareness, analytical skills and experience working with ERP/MRP systems. A CIPS qualification, particularly Level 4 or above, would be advantageous, although relevant experience and proven results will be equally important.
What makes this opportunity different?
- Real influence: A visible leadership position with a direct reporting line into a key member of the senior leadership team.
- The chance to shape a function: Develop the team, improve processes and help establish the procurement strategies needed for future growth.
- Exciting investment: Join a business developing its manufacturing capabilities and planning an innovation facility.
- A growing industry: Be part of the health, nutrition and wellness sector, where innovation and new product development are creating exciting opportunities.
- Long-term opportunity: Join an established business with a strong history of developing and promoting its people.
Salary & Benefits
You'll benefit from an incremental holiday entitlement scheme, loyalty bonus scheme, career development and progression opportunities, employee health and wellbeing initiatives, access to discounted health, nutrition and wellness products, free on-site parking, refreshments, weekly fresh fruit and team social events.
