Business Development Executive

Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire
Salary: £40,000 per annum plus a bonus of approximately £5,000 at target
Working pattern: Office based, with the option to work from home one day per week after probation
Reporting to: Business Development Manager

The role

We are looking for a Business Development Executive to identify, develop and qualify opportunities across new and existing customer accounts. You will combine proactive outreach with the management of inbound enquiries and marketing leads, building your own pipeline while supporting Enterprise Account Managers with theirs.

You will use HubSpot, sales intelligence tools and customer insight to identify the right people to contact, understand their business challenges and arrange meaningful conversations with the sales team. Accurate CRM records and consistent follow-up are central to the role.

What you'll do

• Research target accounts to identify decision-makers, business needs and potential opportunities.
• Run outbound campaigns across prospective, existing, dormant and lapsed customer accounts.
• Respond to and qualify inbound enquiries and marketing-generated leads.
• Build and manage a pipeline in HubSpot, keeping account details, activities, next steps and opportunity stages accurate and up to date.
• Work with Enterprise Sales and Marketing on targeted account campaigns and prospecting plans.
• Arrange discovery meetings, executive briefings, demonstrations, workshops and visits to the Innovation Centre.
• Qualify customer requirements and hand over opportunities to the relevant sales colleague with clear, useful information.
• Use LinkedIn Sales Navigator, sales intelligence and automation tools to improve the relevance and effectiveness of outreach.
• Track the progress of opportunities and use CRM data to improve conversion rates and follow-up.
• Share customer insight and successful approaches with the wider team.
• Success will be measured through qualified opportunities and meetings, pipeline value, lead conversion, opportunity progression and the quality of your HubSpot records.

What you'll bring

• At least one year's experience in a business development or sales development role.
• Confidence with outbound prospecting and qualifying inbound leads.
• Experience using a CRM to manage a pipeline and maintain accurate customer data; HubSpot experience would be particularly useful.
• Strong research, communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, organised approach to managing multiple accounts and follow-ups.
• The ability to work closely with Sales and Marketing to turn customer interest into qualified opportunities.
