Assistant Accountant

Salary: £30,000 per annum + performance-related bonus
Location: Office-based
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Are you an organised and detail-focused finance professional looking to develop your accounting career? We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join a growing and successful business, supporting a busy finance function across purchase ledger, reporting, reconciliations, payroll support, and month-end processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure within a supportive team environment, with training provided and opportunities for professional development.

This position is being recruited on a temporary to permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments
• Maintain accurate purchase ledger records and supplier accounts
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve account queries
• Process and review employee expenses and company credit card transactions
• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Assist with month-end activities, including accruals and prepayments
• Support the preparation of management accounts
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns
• Assist with payroll processing and P11D administration
• Support year-end accounting activities and audits

About You

• Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or assistant accountant role
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy
• Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Confident working independently and as part of a team
• Experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous but is not essential
• AAT qualification or accountancy studies would be beneficial
