Assistant Management Accountant

Location: Birmingham City Centre

Salary: £30,000–£32,000

Contract: Permanent - must be immediately available or on short notice

Working Pattern: Office-based during probation, with hybrid working available thereafter

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing SME based in Birmingham City Centre.

Working within a small finance team and reporting directly to the senior finance lead, this is a varied role where you’ll get exposure across the day-to-day finance function. It would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and getting involved wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the preparation of management accounts
• Processing intercompany recharges
• Managing high-volume consolidated invoicing
• Preparing and processing payment runs
• Handling ad hoc payments
• Supporting credit control and outstanding debt collection
• Bank and account reconciliations
• Assisting with month-end processes
• Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting requirements
• Investigating and resolving finance-related queries
• Helping to continually improve day-to-day finance processes

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience within an accounts or Assistant Management Accountant role
• Is ideally AAT qualified or currently studying towards an accounting qualification
• Has good all-round accounting knowledge
• Is comfortable working within a fast-paced SME environment
• Is proactive, organised and happy to take ownership
• Has strong attention to detail
• Uses initiative and common sense to solve problems
• Is comfortable managing a varied workload and getting involved outside of a rigid job description
• Is available immediately or at short notice

Experience using QuickBooks would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
