Are you an experienced PMLD Tutor, SEN Teacher or specialist educator with a passion for sensory learning and supporting children and young people with complex needs?

New Chapter Tuition is recruiting experienced educators in Southend-on-Sea to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), complex SEND and significant communication needs.

We work closely with Local Authorities, schools and families to provide relationship-led education that promotes engagement, communication, confidence and independence.

This is an opportunity to deliver creative, sensory-focused education, with consistent weekly timetables, paid planning time and a positive work-life balance.

The Role

You'll deliver specialist face-to-face tuition in learners' homes and suitable community settings across Southend-on-Sea.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering engaging sensory-based and multisensory learning activities.
• Using social stories, visual supports, sensory resources and structured routines to promote engagement and understanding.
• Supporting communication through Makaton, PECS, AAC and intensive interaction, where appropriate.
• Adapting activities to individual learning, physical, sensory and communication needs.
• Building positive relationships and supporting individual EHCP outcomes.
• Monitoring progress and completing clear weekly tuition reports.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in experienced PMLD Tutors, SEN Teachers and specialist educators who have:

• Proven experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex SEND.
• Experience planning and delivering sensory-led learning activities.
• Understanding of non-verbal communication and alternative communication approaches.
• The ability to adapt teaching for learners working at early developmental levels.
• A patient, creative and nurturing approach to education.
• Strong safeguarding awareness and commitment to consistent 1:1 support.
• The ability to travel to tuition locations across Southend-on-Sea.

QTS or QTLS is desirable but not essential. Relevant PMLD or complex SEND experience is essential.
