We are supporting an NHS organisation to appoint an experienced Director of Communications at an important point of organisational change and transformation.

The organisation is progressing through a significant programme of integration and alignment, alongside a number of major transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s communications approach, strengthening its organisational narrative and ensuring communications are consistent and effective across the organisation.

With an upcoming CQC inspection, an immediate priority will be ensuring there is a clear, aligned and robust communications plan in place, alongside developing the longer-term communications strategy.

Key priorities will include:

  • Developing and delivering a clear organisation-wide communications strategy.
  • Establishing a strong and consistent organisational narrative.
  • Leading communications planning and preparation for the upcoming CQC inspection.
  • Supporting communications across major transformation and change programmes.
  • Working closely with senior leaders around organisational development, culture and engagement.
  • Creating a more structured and consistent approach to communications across the organisation.
  • Supporting employee engagement and helping to celebrate and communicate organisational successes.
  • Leading, developing and providing direction to an established communications team.

We are looking for an experienced senior communications leader who is comfortable operating within a complex NHS environment undergoing significant change.

Candidates should bring strong strategic communications experience, excellent stakeholder management skills and the credibility to advise and influence senior leaders.

Previous NHS experience is highly desirable, alongside experience of supporting significant organisational change, transformation or regulatory activity.

This is an opportunity to shape the communications strategy and approach of a complex NHS organisation at an important stage of its development.
