Inventory Accountant Temp-Perm

Our client, a leading UK retail business, is seeking an Inventory Accountant to join their Head Office team in Plymouth.

The Role

This is a highly analytical position focused on inventory performance, stock valuation, and business insight. You'll work closely with finance, buying, and supply chain teams to analyse stock data, identify trends and discrepancies, and provide recommendations that improve purchasing decisions and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse inventory KPIs including stock levels, ageing, trends, and valuation.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and identify root causes.
• Produce meaningful reports and forecasts to support decision-making.
• Ensure inventory data accuracy and strong financial controls.
• Support stock takes and liaise with stores, distribution centres, and auditors.
• Provide data-driven recommendations to improve inventory management and profitability.

Key Requirements

• Part-qualified accountant or equivalent experience.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI skills.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
