Interim Head of Commercial Finance | Rapid-Growth Consumer Brand | London

The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be working with one of the UK's most renowned consumer scale-ups in their search for an Interim Head of Commercial Finance. Revenue is circa £25-30m and the business has established itself as the go-to brand in its subsector within Food & Beverage. It is now preparing to go through significant change, and needs senior finance capacity in the building to get it there.

The Role

This is a full-time interim role, sitting close to the founder and leadership team. The finance team is deliberately small and does not have the capacity to take on a transaction alongside the day to day, so this role adds a senior pair of hands at a pivotal moment. The immediate priority is rebuilding the financial model; from there, you will lead finance through due diligence and the wider transaction. This is a hands-on, commercially focused role operating at FD level, advising the founder with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Rebuild the business's financial model to a standard that will stand up to buyer and adviser scrutiny.
• Build forecasts and scenarios that underpin the business plan and the growth story behind the transaction.
• Lead the finance workstream through the transaction, preparing the numbers and supporting analysis.
• Manage financial due diligence, responding to buyer and adviser queries quickly and accurately.
• Model stock, margin and working capital across the business, giving clear visibility of cash.
• Act as a senior finance partner to the founder, providing clear insight and challenge on commercial decisions.
• Add capacity across the wider finance function at FD level where the current team is stretched.

Essential Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong financial modelling skills, including building integrated three-statement models from scratch.
• Experience of a transaction or due diligence process from the finance side.
• Well-rounded, FD-level commercial finance experience, comfortable moving between modelling, reporting and commercial advice.
• Available immediately, full-time, with four days a week in the London office.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in a consumer, FMCG or e-commerce business with stock.
• Experience working closely with a founder in a lean finance team.
• Prior interim assignments delivered at pace.

Day Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience. (Outside IR35)
Location: London, four days a week in the office
Contract: Three to six months, full-time
