They can match the role, title and salary to your skills and experience. Not sure if you tick every box below? Reach out and let's have a conversation.
You will be working for a specialist engineering consultancy who since the 1980’s have provided electronic, mechanical and software design and development services, taking products from initial concept through to pre-production prototypes and on into volume manufacture. Their engineering is trusted in demanding, high-reliability environments across the military, oil and gas, oceanology, road and airport safety and medical sectors. They also have their own product range which includes fibre-optic multiplexers and media converters, HD video products, ROV (subsea remotely operated vehicle) thruster control units and intelligent valve pack controllers and they are an ISO 9001:2015 certified business.
You'll be a hands-on member of a small team, working on the full life cycle of electronic products: circuit design and schematic capture, embedded firmware, prototype test and debug, certification and production. You'll work closely with our lead engineer and learn the core product designs in depth. They are committed to creating an environment where engineers can actually engineer, working on products from conception to end delivery and ongoing customer support.
What you'll be doing:
Designing analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuits around microcontrollers such as PIC, STM32, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi
Capturing schematics (Altium Designer or EasyPC) and supporting PCB layout and design reviews
Writing, testing and debugging embedded firmware in C
Bringing up, testing and fault-finding prototype systems
Supporting products through EMC and safety certification and into production
Producing clear design records, test procedures and technical documentation
Working directly with customers and suppliers Skills required:
Some experience in electronics and/or embedded firmware design
Analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit design skills
Embedded C firmware skills
Practical prototype test and debug skills with standard lab equipment
Good communication skills and confidence working with customers
Ideally a degree in Electronics, Electrical or Embedded Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Experience of taking technical ownership of products, projects or customers You will get to work on varied, technically challenging projects across hardware and firmware and with real ownership of designs in a small, close-knit team. There is a genuine route to a lead technical role as you develop, if the desire and ambition are there and an opportunity to be involved in developing products and solutions for global applications. They can offer support towards professional development, including Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status. Hours include an early finish on Fridays (Mon–Thu 8:30–17:00, Fri 8:30–16:00).
Lastly, as this is a fully onsite role you’ll need to live within commuting distance of Uddingston and due to the nature of the work you’ll need to pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check. No sponsorship is available
