About the Role

Remedy Tutors is recruiting caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Home Tutors to support children and young people across Bromley who need personalised educational support outside a traditional classroom setting.

You'll deliver one-to-one tuition, often in the student's home, helping learners develop their academic skills, rebuild confidence and re-engage with education in a supportive environment.

Our students may have additional learning needs, be unable to attend mainstream school or require alternative provision tailored to their individual circumstances.

This is a rewarding opportunity for tutors who enjoy working closely with individual learners and making a genuine difference to their education and wellbeing.

Maths and English are essential subjects, and tutors with additional subject expertise are encouraged to apply.

About the Students

You may support children and young people with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including:

  • Autism (ASC/ASD)

  • ADHD

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

  • Dyslexia and dyscalculia

  • Speech, language and communication needs

  • Anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)

  • Sensory processing needs

  • Learning difficulties and gaps in education

  • Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

  • Difficulties accessing mainstream education

Every learner is different, and we aim to match tutors with students based on their experience, subject knowledge, location and availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering personalised one-to-one tuition in the student's home or another agreed setting.

  • Teaching Maths and English to primary, secondary and GCSE-level students.

  • Planning engaging lessons tailored to individual abilities and learning needs.

  • Identifying gaps in learning and monitoring academic progress.

  • Adapting teaching methods to support individual SEN requirements.

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students.

  • Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement with education.

  • Supporting individual learning goals and EHCP targets where appropriate.

  • Maintaining session records and providing progress updates.

  • Communicating with parents, carers and other professionals when required.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from:

  • Experienced SEN and SEND home tutors.

  • Qualified teachers with additional-needs experience.

  • Private tutors and outreach tutors.

  • Specialist SEN educators.

  • Teaching assistants with strong Maths and English knowledge.

  • Alternative provision tutors.

  • Graduates with relevant tutoring or educational experience.

You should be patient, reliable, approachable and confident adapting your teaching to suit individual learners.

Experience supporting children and young people with autism, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety or other additional needs would be advantageous.

QTS is not essential for every placement, provided you have suitable experience and subject knowledge. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred.

Essential Subjects
  • Maths

  • English

Experience teaching both subjects is essential.

Additional subjects welcome: Science, Humanities, Computing, Modern Foreign Languages and primary curriculum subjects.
