You must live under an hour from a mainland Swedish aiport!

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled engineer with strong experience in fibre fusion splicing, OTDR testing, optical characterisation and fault diagnosis.

As a Fibre Splice & Test Engineer, you will work across a variety of customer sites and projects throughout Sweden, ensuring fibre infrastructure is installed, tested and delivered to the highest quality and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, splice and terminate single-mode and multi-mode fibre optic cables.

  • Carry out fusion splicing on loose-tube, ribbon, armoured and non-armoured fibre cables.

  • Perform fibre testing using OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources and certification equipment.

  • Conduct optical characterisation testing, including insertion loss, reflectance, optical return loss (ORL) and CD/PMD where required.

  • Inspect, clean and validate fibre connector end faces using specialist inspection equipment.

  • Diagnose and resolve fibre faults, transmission issues and out-of-specification test results.

  • Interpret fibre route drawings, splice plans, network schematics and technical documentation.

  • Produce accurate test reports, splice schedules, red-line drawings and as-built documentation.

  • Support installation, commissioning, migration and break-fix activities across data centres, carrier networks and customer premises.

  • Collaborate with project managers, customers and engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.

  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety procedures and customer requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

To be successful as a Fibre Splice & Test Engineer, you should demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in fibre optic splicing and testing within telecommunications, data centre or mission-critical environments.

  • Strong knowledge of single-mode and multi-mode fibre infrastructure, including ISP and OSP networks.

  • Hands-on experience with fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources and fibre inspection equipment.

  • Ability to interpret OTDR traces, analyse optical loss results and identify corrective actions.

  • Good understanding of fibre connectors, splice enclosures, patch panels and optical distribution frames.

  • Experience reading technical drawings and producing accurate test documentation.

  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills and a professional approach to customer-facing work.

  • Ability to work independently, manage workloads and travel to customer sites across Sweden.

Qualifications & Certifications

Essential:

  • Fibre optic cabling qualification, such as City & Guilds 3667, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Valid driving licence appropriate for working in Sweden.

Desirable:

  • CSCS/ECS card, NRSWA accreditation, BICSI certification or relevant equivalent qualifications.

  • Previous experience working within data centres, carrier networks or colocation facilities.

  • Working-at-height, ladder safety or other relevant site safety certifications.

  • Experience with advanced optical characterisation, including CD/PMD testing.

About You

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and quality-driven engineer who takes pride in delivering technically accurate work.

You will be comfortable working in demanding technical environments, troubleshooting complex fibre issues and supporting projects to tight deadlines.
