Site Manager – Civil Engineering & Groundworks
Location: North West England
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per annum
Package: Company vehicle or car allowance, fuel card, 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, pension and additional benefits.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a varied portfolio of construction, civil engineering and groundworks projects across the North West.
Projects span several sectors, including residential groundworks for housebuilders, wind farm infrastructure, waste recycling facilities and ground stabilisation works. This is an opportunity to work across a diverse range of schemes rather than being restricted to one sector or type of project.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required programme, specification and quality standards.
Projects are located throughout the North West, so you must be willing to travel between sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate daily site operations across groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
* Supervise site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring activities are properly coordinated and resources are used effectively.
* Monitor progress against project programmes, identifying potential delays and implementing solutions to keep works on track.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, company procedures and site-specific requirements.
* Carry out regular site inspections to maintain quality standards and ensure works meet drawings and specifications.
* Coordinate plant, materials, equipment and deliveries to support the efficient running of each site.
* Liaise with Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain progress.
* Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and health and safety documentation.
* Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions to minimise disruption and maintain productivity.
* Ensure works are completed to the required standards, within agreed timescales and in line with project requirements.
* Travel to project locations across the North West as required.
About You
* Proven experience as a Site Manager or Site Supervisor within construction, civil engineering or groundworks.
* Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and day-to-day construction activities.
* A strong understanding of construction methods, site logistics, quality control and health and safety requirements.
* The ability to plan workloads, coordinate multiple activities and maintain progress against programme.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the confidence to manage teams and resolve problems on site.
* A proactive, organised approach with a commitment to safety, quality and productivity.
* Flexibility and willingness to travel to projects across the North West.
* Relevant qualifications, including SMSTS and CSCS, with First Aid and Temporary Works qualifications advantageous depending on project requirements.
Experience across residential groundworks, civil engineering, infrastructure, renewable energy, waste facilities or ground stabilisation would be particularly relevant.
Salary & Benefits
* £50,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
* Company vehicle or car allowance.
* Fuel card.
* 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
* Company pension.
* Additional company benefits and perks.
* Exposure to a varied portfolio of projects across multiple sectors.
* The opportunity to develop your experience across civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure.
