General Administrator – Temp to Perm
Location: Newport, South Wales
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
Contract: Temporary initially, with the potential to become permanent
Salary: £13.08 - £13.75 per hour

Join a long-established, family-run building services contractor based in Newport. We are seeking an experienced General Administrator to support our office team on an initial temporary basis, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Providing general administrative support to the office and wider business.
• Organising and coordinating work for field-based personnel.
• Liaising with customers, clients, contractors, and suppliers by telephone and email.
• Answering and directing incoming telephone calls professionally.
• Preparing and processing documents, correspondence, and reports.
• Maintaining accurate records and updating company systems.
• Scheduling appointments, jobs, and site visits.
• Assisting with the organisation of engineers/operatives and their workloads.
• Processing paperwork, timesheets, and other operational documentation.
• Data entry and maintaining spreadsheets.
• General filing and office administration.
• Supporting other members of the team as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous office administration experience.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confidence and professionalism when dealing with people on the telephone.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• A practical, flexible approach to getting things done.
• The ability to work independently while also being part of a small team.
• Experience within a construction, building services, contracting, or similar operational environment is highly desirable, particularly where the role has involved coordinating field-based staff.
