Finance Director
Tritech International | Ulverston | Competitive salary + bonus, car allowance and strong benefits package | Primarily on site with up to two days’ homeworking
Tritech International has partnered exclusively with Turver Jones to recruit a Finance Director to help shape the next phase of growth in its international subsea technology business.
Tritech is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance underwater technology, supporting customers across offshore energy, defence, marine research and commercial markets worldwide. As part of the General Oceans Group, it combines the agility of a specialist technology business with the opportunities and resources of an international organisation.
This is a broad, hands-on role where you’ll combine strategic financial leadership with ownership of the day-to-day finance function. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and joining the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll provide the insight, control and constructive challenge needed to support business decisions and future growth.
The role could suit an established Finance Director or an experienced senior finance leader ready for their first Finance Director appointment.
The role
You’ll lead and develop a small finance team, strengthen the systems, processes and capability needed to support future growth, act as Company Secretary for Tritech and provide financial reporting and insight to the wider General Oceans Group. Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring an effective service to colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Contribute financial insight and constructive challenge as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning, including the company’s annual and five-year forecasts.
• Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, annual, statutory and group reporting, and manage the external audit process.
• Provide meaningful analysis of financial performance, variances, risks and opportunities to support commercial decision-making.
• Oversee cash flow, customer credit, working capital, foreign currency exposure, payroll, VAT and other relevant taxes.
• Lead capital expenditure planning, investment appraisal and capital funding activity.
• Maintain effective financial controls, delegated authorities and compliance across the business.
• Support consolidations and financial processes involving other UK companies within the General Oceans group.
• Arrangement of UK Group-wide commercial insurance cover.
• Develop the finance systems, processes and capability required to support future growth.
• Oversee the IT provision through internal and external service providers, maintain the IT strategy to meet the company objectives, including cyber resilience and disaster recovery plans.
This is a visible role within the business. You’ll need to be comfortable contributing to strategic discussions while staying close to the detail and building strong relationships beyond finance.
What they’re looking for
• Qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA )
• Significant senior finance experience, ideally within a product-based manufacturing or technology business
• Strong experience of management and group reporting, budgeting, forecasting, consolidations and financial control
• Experience working in an international, multi-company and multi-currency environment
• Experience leading and developing a finance team
• A commercially astute, inquisitive and analytical approach, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior leaders
• The ability to work effectively at both strategic and detailed operational levels
• Strong communication, relationship-management and organisational skills
Experience in subsea, marine, defence or offshore technology would be desirable, as would knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ERP implementation or development, and responsibility for IT governance, cybersecurity or business continuity.
The opportunity
This is an opportunity to take an influential role in an international technology business, with genuine ownership of the finance function and a direct contribution to its future direction.
You’ll have a varied remit, autonomy and the opportunity to improve systems, develop your team and work closely with the wider business and General Oceans Group.
The position is based in Ulverston and is primarily on site, with up to two days’ homeworking subject to business requirements. You must be able to commute reliably or relocate to the area.
