Purchasing & MRP Coordinator – Manufacturing£27,500–£37,500 DOE | Hybrid Working | Career Progression
Location: Loudwater, Buckinghamshire OR Wimborne, Dorset
Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:45–17:15
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Are you a Purchasing professional who understands what happens beyond the Purchase Order?
Do you know your way around an MRP system, understand Bills of Materials (BOMs) and enjoy making sure production has exactly what it needs, when it needs it?
Perhaps you are an experienced Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator or Materials Planner looking for more responsibility, greater ownership and genuine career progression.

If you understand the relationship between Purchasing, Stock, Suppliers and Manufacturing, we want to hear from you!

We are recruiting for an established and growing group of businesses operating across the security, access control and manufacturing sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive Supply Chain team where your knowledge, initiative and problem-solving skills will make a real difference.
The Opportunity:
This is not simply a role raising Purchase Orders and chasing deliveries!
You will play an important part in keeping manufacturing operations running smoothly, ensuring materials and components are available when required, managing suppliers and identifying potential shortages before they disrupt production.
Working closely with the Group Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day purchasing activities while developing your wider supply chain knowledge.
And there is genuine room to grow! Longer term, there is potential to deputise for the manager and progress towards a more senior Purchasing or Supply Chain position.
What Will You Be Doing?
  • Managing purchasing requirements from initial demand through to delivery.
  • Reviewing MRP recommendations and identifying materials required for production.
  • Working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), stock levels, forecasts and supplier lead times.
  • Raising and managing Purchase Orders and expediting deliveries.
  • Building supplier relationships and resolving delivery, pricing and quality issues.
  • Identifying material shortages and taking action to prevent production delays.
  • Monitoring stock levels, safety stock, reorder points and Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs).
  • Using Excel to analyse purchasing, inventory and supplier data.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing and planning information within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Working closely with Production, Engineering, Warehouse and Finance.
  • Supporting improvements to purchasing processes, systems and stock management.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideally, you will have:
  • 3+ years' experience in Purchasing, Materials Planning or Supply Chain.
  • At least 2 years' hands-on ERP/MRP experience within manufacturing, engineering or assembly.
  • Experience purchasing components, materials or manufactured products.
  • A good understanding of BOMs, production requirements and material planning.
  • Experience managing suppliers, chasing deliveries and resolving shortages.
  • Knowledge of lead times, MOQs, safety stock and reorder points.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including lookups and PivotTables.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive attitude and the confidence to take ownership.
MRP experience is essential. We need someone who understands why materials need ordering, when they are required and how purchasing decisions affect production, rather than someone who has only processed Purchase Orders.
Experience with electronic components, production scheduling, ERP improvements or inventory optimisation would be advantageous. CIPS qualifications are welcomed but not essential.
What Is In It For You?
  • £27,500–£37,500 salary, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working: 3 days office / 2 days home.
  • 22 days' holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
  • 3% employer pension contribution, with salary exchange available.
  • Subsidised BUPA private medical insurance.
  • Fully funded Simplyhealth cash plan for you and dependent children up to age 25.
  • Training and professional development opportunities.
  • Genuine career progression within Purchasing and Supply Chain.
  • Employee recognition and long-service awards.
  • Enhanced maternity support.
  • Employee wellbeing and mental health support.
Ready for Your Next Step?
If you are the sort of person who spots a potential shortage before it becomes a crisis, enjoys solving problems, takes pride in keeping production moving and wants to be trusted with real responsibility, this could be exactly what you are looking for.
Whether your current title is Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator, MRP Coordinator, Materials Planner or Supply Chain Coordinator, what matters most is your practical manufacturing experience and your ability to take ownership.
